Phones and tablets built around the Open Web are a new frontier that\'s barely been explored. You will hop on wagon and help us chart the way that millions of people will interact with their phones and tablets, through
HTML5 user interfaces and applications. The ideal candidate groks the Web principles of users first, elegant abstraction, deep customization, hyperlinked ecosystem, the Web-at-your-fingertips through URLs, and is eager to apply them to the device space. Like pioneers on other frontiers, though, we\'ll rough it at times: we\'ll be living on the bleeding edge where APIs break and evolve continuously, and we\'ll need to get code out early and often. In exchange, we have the opportunity to see our design DNA improve the devices millions of people use around the world.
The candidate will join our team and help create a complete, standalone operating system built on the Open Web. The candidate will want to ship world-class software early and often, and will be ruthless in prioritizing work and doing whatever is necessary to ship.
Responsibilities
* Design and implement \'Web homescreens\', \'cloud desktops\': the core interface of devices
* Design and implement the next generation of web applications built on new device APIs
* Design and implement core services, like software keyboards, in HTML5
* Help iterate on the design of new device APIs
* Work with partners to customize user experiences
* Analyze and optimize the performance of HTML5 applications
Requirements
* BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) +1 year professional software development experience
* Strong fundamentals in the development of complex software applications for the Web
* Thorough understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
* Experience with mobile-device user interfaces, applications, and hardware (sensors, vibrators, etc.) a big plus
